Legendary 30 → 36 and the jump to the cap

Do this from level 30: play only quests with a base level of 30 or higher (table in §7.2). Level 36 takes 12,600,000 legendary XP, and each character earns it only once W-LL. In Reaper, pick quests from the sorted table in §8.2 W-RD. The only free quests found are Temple of Elemental Evil Part One (30) and the three Lordsmarch quests (34). The rest are paid or unverified R110 R63.

7.1 Basic rules

• Level 36 takes 12,600,000 legendary XP (31: 1.6M; 32: 3.6M; 33: 5.7M; 34: 7.9M; 35: 10.2M) W-LL. The U81 notes set the cap at 36 but publish no XP table per level R113. These values come only from W-LL.
• Only quests and slayers with a base level of 30+ give legendary XP. An epic quest gives none, even on Elite W-LL.
• Legendary XP is never lost. A character who drops below 30 (True, Iconic, or Epic Reincarnation) gets back every legendary level already earned when it returns to level 30 W-LL W-XP. As a result, the full legendary life happens only once per character. After that, every life that reaches 30 jumps to the highest level already reached. Axel calls this the 30 → cap jump AX.
• There is no Legendary Reincarnation. The wiki thinks one is likely at cap 40 W-LL.
• Reaper XP at level 30+: it comes only from legendary dungeons (base level 30+). Base RXP is doubled wiki, not cross-checked W-RD R220. A legendary character can enter epic Reaper but earns no RXP there wiki, not cross-checked R220. The first Reaper run of a quest gives +200% once per life (golden rule 7, §1) wiki, not cross-checked W-RD R220. Formula details: §8.1.
• Tomes of Learning apply to neither Reaper XP nor XP stones, and the Epic Tome stops working when you take level 30 wiki, not cross-checked R214.
• There has been no Reaper XP in the wilderness since U81 N81 R113.
• The U81.4 notes R155 and the U82 notes R156 mention no change to XP, Reaper XP, or quest rewards. Any slowdown in leveling is therefore not officially documented.

7.2 Legendary content by base level

Levels and lengths come from DDO Compendium pages. Most of these pages predate U81 (Jul 22, 2026), so a rebalance is still possible. The length is the Compendium category (Short, Medium, Long, Very Long), with no time in minutes. RXP = Reaper XP per skull.

Level 35 detail (Myth Drannor): The House of Gems, Voices of the Dead, Death Hosts This Banquet, and Threats Old and New are Medium at 310 R138 R140. The Zulkir's Plan is Long at 352 R139. Times Long Past (page edited Sep 21, 2026, after U81) and The Key to the Mythal are Very Long at 394 R75 R74.

Level 36 detail (Chill of Ravenloft), read one by one:

Quests of the same level are ranked by length. The Compendium gives no minutes, so you cannot rank Reaper XP per minute with this source R115. Only RXP per skull can be compared.

7.3 Terror of Demogorgon (level 37, U81)

• The pack lists 14 entries: 13 quests at heroic level 11 / legendary 37, plus Terror of the Demon Lords (legendary 37, no heroic level) R116. The page for Terror of the Demon Lords presents it as the pack's raid (page edited Oct 2, 2026, after U81) R122. The pack page does not class it as a raid (Challenges: None) R116.
• Number of quests in the saga: not confirmed. The Terror of Demogorgon Part One and Part Two arcs cover only 10 of the 14 entries, and the last 4 have no arc listed. The figure of 12 quests for the saga is not confirmed R116.
• The wiki counts 37 sagas, 9 of them legendary, and says U81 added 2 Terror of Demogorgon sagas, including the legendary one at level 37 wiki, not cross-checked R217. The XP of this saga and the reward bug reported at U81 (see §6.2) were not rechecked UNVERIFIED.

Seven quests in the pack were not read one by one: A Blood Pact, The Price of an Egg, For Want of a Heart, Flocked Together, The Fetid Wedding, Stealing from Sorcere, If It Wasn't For Bad Luck. Their profile is unknown R116.

7.4 Orders of magnitude

• Formula observed on the pages read (calculation): RXP per skull = 2 × (50 + 3 × level) at Medium, then 1.2 × level more for each length step (Short one step down, Long one step up, Very Long two steps up). It matches 37 Very Long = 410.8, 36 Very Long = 402.4, 36 Long = 359.2, 34 Long = 344.8, and 32 Short = 253.6 R114. It differs from the 0.8 / 1 / 1.2 / 1.4 multipliers the wiki gives wiki, not cross-checked R220. For Compendium values, use this formula (see §8.1).
• Legendary XP at Normal difficulty: Hideous to Behold 34,895 R118, The Proper Authorities 22,600 R128, Snowfall and Sunlight 49,875 R133, Relentless 61,844 R114.
• Calculation: 12,600,000 XP is about 361 runs of Hideous to Behold or about 204 runs of Relentless at the Normal rate, before any bonus. First-time and delving bonuses apply only once per quest per life, and repeating costs -20% per run W-XP. Use these figures only to compare options. They are too rough to plan with.

7.5 Player opinions, dated

• Vooduspyce's opinion (Malkier guide, Feb 15, 2023, before Chill of Ravenloft and Terror of Demogorgon): legendary RXP makes up about 90% of the million RXP earned per life. He advises the highest possible skull for the first legendary quests of the life, because RXP drops sharply on repeated runs R149.
• Short quests he cites for farming: Mists (Into the Mists, Death House, Fresh Baked Dreams, Final Vintage, Wrath of the Earth, Raven's Bane), Myth Drannor (House of Gems, Book Burning, Ettercap Incursion, Portal to Below), Vecna (What Dreams May Come, Party 101, Paper Trail), Saltmarsh (Back to Basics, Down You Go, Swim at Your Own Risk, The Final Enemy), plus Feywild and Isle of Dread R149. Their levels and lengths were not reread.
• Everling's opinion (DDO Vault, Aug 2023, before U81): at level 30+, Reaper XP comes only from legendary quests. Gunga advises a full round of the quests with the best RXP per minute, about 1.5M RXP with 50% boosts, without naming the quests R150.
• No 2025-2026 player statement about the fastest legendary quests was found (search on Nov 5, 2026, Reddit inaccessible) UNVERIFIED.

7.6 Side rewards in legendary

• Tokens of the Twelve: the page for The Chronoscope (Legendary) lists a Token and a Fragment of a Token of the Twelve in its loot, with no quantity or minimum level (page of Apr 29, 2024). It is the only legendary version in the list of Fragment sources R159 R158. For the other legendary quests, nothing found UNVERIFIED.
• Commendations of Valor: the Compendium page mentions epic quests and Otto's Irresistible Boxes, and nothing about legendary (2022 page) R162. The wiki also describes only epic wiki, not cross-checked R215. Axel says he takes them at the end of legendary quests too AX.
• Heart Seeds: the page says "Any Quest level 20 or higher, once you have reached Level 30" and does not mention legendary R163. Player opinions, thread of Apr 2-4, 2024: Fhrek says 2 Heart Seeds per quest at the cap, JustHavingFunBro says only for legendary quests, Dragavon says epic and legendary at 30. They contradict each other R164. The point remains UNVERIFIED.

7.7 The Court of Strahd (U82, seasonal event)

• Dates: from Wednesday, Oct 14, 2026 at 1 PM Eastern until maintenance on Wednesday, Feb 17, 2027 at 9 AM Eastern R202. The U82 notes give only these dates and point to the guide: no quests, no levels, no XP R156.
• How it works: inferred, an overlay of lanterns and Mists placed on existing quests. The guide does not state it this explicitly R202. The Mists appear at Delera's Graveyard, the Eveningstar cemetery, and Korthos Village. Starting them triggers an introductory quest, then the Order of the Guardians gives you a lantern R202. Known bug: the intro can be inaccessible, but you can get the lanterns and mechanics without finishing it R202. U82.0.1 (Oct 16, 2026, page dated Oct 15, 2026): all players can enter the event quest at these three locations R203. The older Lanterns in the Mists event worked on the same lantern principle. Its page predates U81, and the equivalence with 2026 is unverified R204.
• Lantern durability: in heroic, you must be less than three levels above the quest's base level. In epic and legendary, less than six (threshold adjusted by U82.0.1). From level 20, durability is gained only in epic and legendary quests R202 R203.
• Skull Lantern: reserved for level 1 characters with less than 1,500 XP and no past life at all. Iconics can get it by skipping the tutorial XP and talking to Narstom Gelminedes. It gives the buff Vow of Glory - The Court of Strahd, which limits your gear to items from the event era. Dying under this buff ends the run and loses any unclaimed rewards R202. Inferred: it is therefore no use for a non-iconic reincarnation life.
• Listed rewards: Half Cloak of the Pledge II, Cloak of the Order II, Hexblood Horns, Cosmetic Trail of the Mists, Teleportation Style Portal of the Grave, with Skull variants. The Skull Lantern adds Fame for uncompleted quests R202. No XP reward is mentioned. Only the trail is called "Cosmetic"; that everything is cosmetic is inferred R202.

7.8 Still to verify for this section

• Legendary quest lengths in minutes, which would allow an RXP per minute ranking R115.
• The seven unread Demogorgon quests, several Myth Drannor quests (Book Burning, Safehold, Ettercap Incursion, Portal to Below, Seeds of Decay, Oghma's Song, Secrets of the Red Wizards), and the other Isle of Dread, Fables, Mists, and Saltmarsh quests.
• Legendary levels of the other Mists quests (31 or 32) R148.
• No free quest at 35-37 found. The only free ones found are Temple of Elemental Evil Part One (30) and the three quests at 34 R110 R63.
• Exact number of quests in the Terror of Demogorgon saga, and the reward bug R116.
• Tokens and Commendations in legendary (§7.6).
• XP and Reaper XP of the Court of Strahd.
